Mr. Newman is the founder of the Knowledge Management Forum, one of the first virtual communities of practice dedicated to the definition and furtherance of the field of knowledge management. Mr. Newman holds the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute (PMI) and has been recognized as one of the top 10 practitioners in the field of Knowledge Management.

Mr. Newman strives to strengthen the theoretical foundations for the practice of Knowledge Management and maintains a program of independent research into the dynamics of the knowledge life cycle. The objective of his research is to establish improved models for understanding the ways knowledge is developed, stored, transferred, and used within organizations. His most recent efforts deal with improved knowledge flows within the project structure, the application of Theory of Constraint (TOC) modeling to knowledge flows, the role of knowledge flows in supporting Real Option Analysis, and the development of a body of theory on alignment behaviors as they effect organizational knowledge flows.
